Jo Lancaster led a team from Rotary as part of an initiative to plant 31,000 trees – one for every town resident. The ‘Trees for Congleton’ project won the acclaim of BBC Radio Stoke and first prize in its ‘Make a Difference’ awards recently.

Jo, assisted by Gill Pickford, David Brew, Mike Brown, and Richard Lingard formed the regular members of the Rotary team. They joined the Trees for Congleton initiative, started in 2019 and completed earlier this year. The scheme involved residents, schools and businesses. Congleton Partnership, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Congleton Town Council and the William Dean Trust funded the project.

Jo demonstrated her tree planting skills in the Tiny Forest, off Padgbury Lane.
